I like #4 and #5 , But if we have to look at the appliction and it’s purpose i would go with #5, because it says in one vieuw what type of application it is.

#4 log has been done numours times by other companies ..

  5. jjmancini September 23rd, 2006

Hey guys… Just wanted to update you, we are still deciding on the final logo. We will let everyone know by Monday.

Thanks again for all the wonderful submissions and the awesome poll turn out!

sorry about that, he actually didnt even say anything about mine but simply saying something sucks doesnt help anyone. if there is something you dont like you should state that opinion to help the designer make progress. “that sucks” doesnt help.

I would like to encourage constructive criticism from the posters, travis calm down man, everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

One of the great things about design is that there are so many styles and although you can’t please everybody, some designs suit well on a specific application.

When thinking of a logo, you have to consider uses for everything (site, shirts, hats, coffee mugs, keychains, etc.) IMHO, I believe that no one at this point understand sfreeCSScart more than the developers, so at the end I think the decision will be theirs.

p.s. Before voting ask yourself, what logo would I like to see on a poster hanging on my wall or printed on my shirt?

    That usually helps.

“#2 and #3 still suck. no humble opinion here, just fact. ”

Thats real f*ckin constructive a**hole. And no, your opinion is not fact. You dcaresh are an arrogant douche bag.

  9. dcaresh September 21st, 2006

#5 is the best of those up there although i really like #1 as well. #1 however, as someone already stated, would work beautifully as icons. #2 and #3 still suck. no humble opinion here, just fact. and i hate the butterfly. there are only two things i can think of that i hate more than that butterfly: the cacoon on the other option on #2 and rapists. and mosquitos. three things. that’s all.

    #1 Good but incomplete

    #2 Completely unrelated

    #3 Deja vu!

    #4 Too simple yet effective

    #5 Stylish and Iconographic

    I like #4 and #5 but can’t vote until I decide which.

  11. todd santoro September 19th, 2006

#4 all the way! very different and very telling of what I think the project embodies. #1 is a close second however #4 leaves a lot of room for icon variations and branding.

  12. Travis Dahl September 19th, 2006

ok i guess i need to break my logo down for divineddominion since he obviously doesn’t get it. i’ll break it down in his terms.

“web2.0 star-thingie”- although it is iconic of 2.0, the badge here represents the sun coming over a horizon, the dawning of a new age in shopping carts.

“some lights”- the “lights” are actually rays from the sun, symbolizing freedom.

“shopping cart silhouette”- the cart is at the peak of the hill. it has reached the summit!

sorry if a shopping cart is not iconographic enough for a shopping cart site. IMHO

Not upset, just thought i should explain.

I like the theme and direction that #1 was going too!

#2’s execution is impecable! My only criticism would be that the cacoon and butterfly only represent the aspect that there is a beta and a full version but doesnt really reflect the product. beautiful logos though!

  13. DivineDominion September 19th, 2006

I like #1 the most because, as said before, it works well as icons. One could modify the ideas a bit nevertheless, who said that freeCSScart has to use one image as it is, I mean, it’s your company and you could change whatever you like.
The cart and the bag are the coolest ones I think, but using all of them here and there on the page (like the tag for tagging or so, only smaller)…

#4 Is nice, yeah, I like it as well, but it’s not really representative. A web2.0 star-thingie, some lights, a shopping cart silhouette… so what? Not iconographic enough IMHO.

  14. derek September 19th, 2006

My favorite, not including my own ;-), is #4. The concept is clear and the look is appealing.

To dcaresh: why are getting so hostile? Can you back up your statement with some facts? I’m not saying they are perfect but can you at least tell us all why you think this? If you read the directions the FreeCSSCart team wanted to keep the existing text in the logo. I was just following the rules. Please enlighten us.

  15. Chris Robinson September 18th, 2006

    #4 FTW!

IMO the designs in #1 would work better as icons, the first graphic set are poorly put together. The second two however as I said before would work as icons.

#2 I understand the metaphor but the second set with the supposed cocoon looks like a snail without a shell (a slug).

#3 it’s an ok idea however with the text below or tagline it doesn’t read correctly it slightly confusing and semi unrelated it’s really only emphasizing the “free” part.

#4 represents all facets of the product with clean lines and simplicity.

#5 is ok I’m just not really feeling it.

I actual feel that there were a few ideas submitted that should have been up there.

  16. dcaresh September 18th, 2006

all of you who picked #3 are idiots–the typography is weak and the images could use some work as well

  17. Jay September 18th, 2006

I picked #4 because of it’s powerful representation. The typography is very clean and easy to read at a glance.

I also love how it seems to represent the dawn of a new age in shopping cart development. :) It gets me more excited in this way than the other designs.

  18. Kamlesh Khatri September 17th, 2006

    #4 is very good…
    i think it conceptfully…

  19. feios September 17th, 2006

My opinion is that none of logos is good enough, i will suggest to stay with existing one (text only)

  20. vyacheslav kaushan September 17th, 2006

#3c is nice - clean and simple - only text below isn’t good.

#5 have good icon-backet and bright color + glass effect / but text in two lines is a wrong idea - it mixes name(domain name) as wel as so smalll element in logo.

My vergict : #3 is best one but it needs brighter colors and class\3d effect like #5

“We reserve the right to chose the winning logo even if it is not the one with the highest number of votes.”

    WTF?

  22. jjmancini September 16th, 2006

    Travis,

We are allowing people to vote only once. If they vote more than that, we delete the votes based off of IP address.

    Thanks for the question!

  23. Davisson September 16th, 2006

#3c looks good. Simple yet brandful.

  24. Travis Dahl September 16th, 2006

    Hey everybody!
    Goodluck to all the contestants!
A friend just told me that it let him vote twice. I told him not to do that because I don’t want to be disqualified. Is there a way to prevent this?
    Great logos everyone!
